Sorry it's been awhile since I've written. When we got back from the beach I still wanted to be on vacation since Sean was. I'm back though! We had an amazing time down in Galveston. I was real nervous about how Haley would handle a change in schedule, location, and people. She did WONDERFUL!! We got to Houston Saturday afternoon, and she was real excited to see Grandma and Papa and uncle Brett. She went to them right away with a smile on her face. We put her down upstairs so she could move around and she started crawling across the floor!! She hadn't really crawled yet so we were real shocked. (She's every where now!!) So that was exciting, and I know Sean's parents were delighted.
Sunday we left for the beach. Haley slept for the hour car ride to Galveston. When we got there, we all went to lunch. We ate at the Rain Forest Cafe, and Haley loved it. She ate some food, drank some water, and looked around the whole time. There's so much to look at in the restaurant that it kept her pretty entertained. After lunch we went to the pool. Haley of course loved that and just played and played. It was getting a little late so I took Haley up to the room to see if she'd take a nap. She took a little one, but I think she was too excited to sleep. We went to dinner kind of late, but I assumed Haley would just fall asleep in the car like she normally does. Well, that wasn't the case and she stayed up the entire time we were at dinner. She sat in her car seat the whole time, playing with her toys, and didn't cry once. I couldn't believe it! It was at least 10 o'clock. When we got back to the hotel she went right to bed, but I was really nervous about how she'd sleep and if her schedule would be completely off for tomorrow.
Monday morning Haley woke-up in a great mood. She slept ok once I brought her in the bed with Sean and I. I took her on a walk outside that morning along the seawall. It was a beautiful day, and it was nice to have a few moments alone with Haley. I tried to take some pictures, but the camera kept fogging up because of the humidity. (I'm bummed because I took some pretty cute ones too!) After our walk everyone met for breakfast, and again Haley did great! She sat in her stroller and ate her breakfast like a big girl. We went to the beach after breakfast and Haley seemed pretty curious about everything around her. After I hosed her down with sunblock, Sean took her into the ocean for the first time. We were out there a few minutes and she got some water in her face. She was ok with it, but then started to rub her eyes and look sleepy. I took her back to shore, and let her play in the sand a little bit. She of course wanted to eat it so that was fun. I went through an entire bag of wet wipes! After playing a little bit I layed her in her stoller, and she took a nice nap. When she woke-up we played a little more, and then headed back to the hotel for lunch. She had a bottle, played in the pool, had people oh and aw over her, and then she took another nap. (The life of a baby!! : )) It was getting late, and I was getting a little nervous about her staying up so late again. I bathed and fed her before we left hoping she'd fall asleep in the car, and sure enough she did. She slept through all of dinner which is amazing, because we were all pretty loud. (well, just Josh! haha) Haley slept great that night, and even slept in after she had a bottle. It was pretty nice.
Tuesday we skipped breakfast to sleep in a little bit. Sean took Haley to the pool so she could spend some more time with his family. After swimming, we checked out and went to the strand for some shopping. Haley did pretty well the whole time. She just isn't much of a shopper yet : ). After lunch and ice cream(and buying the entire candy store!), we headed back to Houston. Haley slept the whole way. She was worn out!! When we got back to Houston Haley played for a little while, but she was pretty exhausted. She went to bed at her normal time and I was glad her schedule wasn't completely thrown.
Wednesday everyone hung-out by the pool. Haley is just such a little water baby. It's like she never gets tired of it. She could play and play for hours (and does!). We stayed most the afternoon. When we got back to Dallas, Haley had had enough of her car seat. She definitely wanted to be free by that point. All in all she did an amazing job. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect first vacation! She is an amazing baby, and Sean and I feel so blessed to have her.
Special thanks and love to all Sean's family. It was fun spending time with everyone, and Haley really loved it too. She loves you all so much and I know you guys adore her as well. Can't wait for the next vacation!!
