Our Busy Summer : PART ONE

I know it's been FOREVER since my last blog, but we've been a busy family this summer. I'm gonna try and get everyone caught up in a 3 part series. Exciting, huh? Here we go...

After father's day, we went to surprise my Papa for his 70th birthday party. My Granny had been planning this little get together for a while, but my Papa made it a little difficult on her. He didn't know we were coming, so I know it meant a lot to him when he saw us. It was a nice little party with good friends, good food, and great memories.

Haley was very helpful opening the presents and cards for her Great Papa. She was the life of the party as always. The party was at my Aunt and Uncle's house, and their daughter (my cousin) Ashley has a pet bunny. Haley loves hoppy's (aka bunnies)! She loved petting and hugging the bunny. She played with my cousin Ashley almost the whole time. She really likes older kids.

After the party we went to my Grandparents' house for the night. I was really excited to show Sean where my grandparents live. Sonora,TX. I remember when my sister and I were little we always wanted to live in Sonora. We thought it was was the greatest place on earth. Both my grandparents live in the same town so we spent a lot of time there growing up. Sonora is a small town of about 3,000 people. Going back now, I realize it wasn't so much the town, but my grandparents. As I was taking Sean down the drag in town (I'm sure he thought I was crazy bragging about such a place) I felt so excited. I've had all these amazing memories in that town, and I'm so glad Sean and Haley get to be a part of that now.

The next morning we all went to church. My grandparents took Haley to Sunday school before we all went. She went with them with no problems and played in her class. I feel very blessed to have a daughter that adjusts to her surroundings well. When we showed up at church you could tell she was getting tired. After a few songs had gone by and she had finished her snack she was playing right next to me in the pew. During the first prayer Haley was rocking back and forth singing rock a baby. Well, she rocked a little too hard and bangs her head against the back of the wooden pew. It was loud! A few seconds later the crying started. I took her out in the hall as quietly as possible, but everyone was looking by this point. It was quite comical actually. : )
After that she came in and feel asleep in my arms.

After church we had lunch and headed home on our 5 hour drive. This trip we discovered the wonderful world of portable DVD players. Wow!! What an amazing thing to have for toddlers. The only downside is she wants to watch movies all the time now. She'll wake up asking for "oovies, oovies." Sean really enjoys watching Stewart Little everyday! : )

I think that about sums up this trip. It was a quick trip, but very enjoyable. I love seeing my family whenever I can, and I know they love seeing Haley. Haley is so loved! We are all so blessed!
