The day started off so well....

I made a delicious fruit salad for breakfast.

Strawberry, banana, a drizzle of honey.
I added a squirt of lime for some citrus action.
Mint is what I typically put with this fruit salad, but I didn't have any (basil would be good too). All I had was cilantro, so I chopped some up and threw it in. It was delightful!

Haley and I headed out to run some errands. Blockbuster was our first stop to get The Blind Side.
Next to Lamps Plus to pick up a lamp we had ordered. The lady at the counter gave Haley a key chain light. She was excited.
Whole Foods was next door so in we went to pick up some yummy food for dinner. The check-out guy gave Haley a fruit snack. She was again excited.

So far so good.

 And then....all hell broke loose!

We stopped at World Market for wine, beer, candy, and nuts. Easy enough I thought to myself. We'll be in and out. Someone..ehem...HALEY GRACE COOK...did not like this plan. She wanted to eat the candy then and there. I said no. She wanted to walk and not sit in the cart. I said no. She wanted to take her shoes off. I said ok. She wanted them back on. I said ok. She then wanted to throw them off her feet, so mommy had to get on her hands and knees and retrieve them from under a dusty shelf. I said nothing, because I was on my hands and knees in the middle of a store. This is the point I thought I should just leave now. Leave the basket, take what's left of your dignity, and go. I did not though. I needed a few more things and I was gonna tough it out. Again someone did not like this. She wouldn't sit down, kept crying for candy, started screaming and yelling. People were looking at me like I was beating her, and trust me, the thought had occurred to me.  One lady kept glaring and I'm sure she was thinking, "Just give your kid the dang candy already!!" I did not give her the dang candy, though. I was not going to reward that behavior with delicious chocolates. We checked out and left.

After that I was pretty worn out. Haley must have been too because she passed out on the way home. I really needed to stop at the grocery store before I went home. You must think I'm crazy for even considering this after the last debacle, but consider it I did, and before I knew it I was parking at Krogers. I sat in the car a few moments to gain my composure. Once that was done, I got a sleeping Haley out of the car and went in the store. She slept with her head on my shoulder the whole time I was inside. She's not as light as she used to be, so after a few minutes inside I realized this wasn't as smart an idea as I once thought. When I finally got back to the car my neck and shoulder was killing me. Now I'm not only mentally worn out, I'm physically worn out!

After all that I was on my way home, and all I could think about was putting her in her bed. Oh how sweet it'll be! I can eat lunch in peace. Get things done. Enjoy some me time.

Unfortunately, she woke up when we got home and hasn't gone back to bed. It was a nice thought, though.
